I got an email today from Ebay, like many other Australian Ebay members, which states that the proposed plan to force all sellers to only accept PayPal, has been set back until July 15th.
This comes after the ACCC ruled against Ebay stating that this business move was anti-competitive.
But Ebay isn’t making any concessions. They are not telling users that there has been a ruling against them and they will reconsider. In fact they are saying if you failure to comply with their new restrictions they will remove listings and probably ban accounts.
PayPal has many flaws. Many, many users have had accounts lost, funds frozen etc. for no good reason. The fees are steep and customer support is non existent.
I decided to have a chat with Ebay and they are giving a straight and pre-rehearsed answer of: “eBay intends to work further with the ACCC to achieve a final outcome which has the safety and security of eBay’s members as its paramount objective.”. I was annoyed the gave me a copy and paste answer.
I also asked if this had anything to do with trying to generate more profits with PayPal - no answer, obviously.
I continued to press my copy and paste talker, and asked if accounts would be suspended if users continued to list items with “bank deposit” as a payment option - I got a “yes”. So yes, Ebay will be suspending accounts simply for people compling with the ACCC.

I have - and i like!
I’m talking Firefox 3 and there attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most software downloads in a day. One question, does this record already exist?
But, Firefox 3 seems to be a major improvement on v2. I’ve only been playing with it for a day (I couldn’t be bothered to download the release clients earlier on) and I have noticed a speed increased and it hasn’t crashed yet on my Macbook.
However, I wasn’t to fond of the new URL dropdown autocomplete thingy. It display a lot more info then I need and is annoying. There is a plugin called old bar which brings back FF2 feel but it doesn’t seem to work the way I want it too.
Anyways, I encourage you all to go out and download FF3 and give it a good go. Let me know what you think of it.

well maybe im speaking too soon - but so far, this blog hasn’t been subject to a security flaw that is turning blogs all over the intertubes into a pharmaceutical site. So either these bloggers are deciding to sell pills on the side or there is a major security flaw in Wordpress. More coverage on Techcrunch here
BTW. Check out the hilarious post from Amir of CollegeHumor fame regarding his blog and this hack.

When I launched Tweetcube (file hosting service for Twitter) I just wanted to get the site out there and get people testing it. After a few weeks of running it (and a decent bandwidth bill) I have had a lot of great feedback. And so I wanted to share with you some of the features which are currently in development.
Please, Please tell me what you think of these ideas:
- Commenting - Uploads will be more social. You will be able to comment on uploaded pics, docs, zips whatever. Each file gets its own page with comments, download tracking, password protection option and more.
- Inline MP3 - this was hugely requested as it makes sharing music (of course with the right licenses) through twitter a breeze. When you upload an MP3 you will be able to play it right from your browser, download the original and if available buy the MP3 from Amazon or iTunes.
- File Stream - with v2.0 of Tweetcube, you will get your own profile page which lists all your previous uploads in a really neat way, for easy access, commenting and downloading.
- Some other stuff
So as you can see, Tweetcube will not just be a service for uploading files it will be a destination!
Let me know what you think.

I got emailed about Jaiku when it just launched and so subsequently I also got a really awesome username - anthony.jaiku.com
I would use Jaiku but they are currently closed for new registrations (since Google took over the site) and there just isn’t the same audience.
So what is Jaiku upto? Here are my predictions as to what I think Jaiku is doing right now:
- Android - Jaiku was built to be mobile and im thinking we will see an android app/interface. Im sure they will also go with an iPhone version too, just like other Google properties.
- Adsense - Jaiku will do what Twitter hasn’t been able too (apart from Japan) and that is monetize the service. Adsense integration and search im thinking will come to Jaiku.
- App Engine - I’ve heard a few ramblings about Jaiku being developed using the new Google App Engine. This will be a great test of the engine and I look forward to seeing if this happens.
- Accounts - and finally im sure Jaiku will use Google Accounts to handle that side of things. Wouldn’t it be also cool if open social was integrated - im thinking it would be a match made in heaven
Im holding out for Jaiku and can’t wait to see them open up shop again.

As much as I love the concept of Tumblr - I love their product, the design, pretty much everything….but I miss my comments.
I also miss the wordpress theming and having worked with Wordpress for the last few years, its something that i’m really familiar with.
So now I’ve moved back to Wordpress and will be figuring out how to transfer all my old posts over to this blog.
